Moving on… To another blog :)

24 Nov

I am a little sad to think this blog may not be used now as I have almost finished the website and can use the incorporated blog there.

So this blog will be no more. For now. When I started it very slowly almost two years ago, I really didn’t expect it would take me where I am now. I have met some amazing people who have shown support the whole way through. I have talked about Sarah, Robin’s sister and how much I miss her.

We have also mentioned our trips, shared our worries and excitement and now we are moving to a new level of our blogging life. I will come by this blog again. Leave note, thoughts. Just like it was meant to be.

Inspire Me is not over. It’s just ever changing but it will never be over. I will keep checking in. I hope you do too!

So find us now on BUBBLEROCK and even though it doesn’t look like it, you can COMMENT… Just need to find out how I can make that more obvious.

Miss you always ‘Little  Big’…

What is a “Friwi”?

18 Nov

A Friwi is the combination of a French and a Kiwi: it represents the love that bounds Robin (aka fiance) and I.

The image below represents this bond: two lives, two unique personalities, two souls becoming one.

I love the idea of becoming a friwi. It’s fulfilling.

…Let the fun begin… …Elegant Decay {1}…

11 Nov

This is a pretty special post today and I hope you will enjoy the experience with us. We are the first of a long series of amazing wedding blogs to launch the Elegant Decay photo series. This is beyond just being part of an amazing collective of wedding bloggers and vendors (we’re the #TWIPS on Twitter and you find us on twitter under the #ElegantDecay hash-tag for this particular initiative.).

In fact, it means a lot to me as a bride looking for inspiration for my wedding.

I still have a few weeks to look forward to before the big day (99 days to be exact!). And for sure, I still look everywhere for inspiration on how to choose the perfect dress, pick the perfect colours, create the perfect centrepiece… but I would never want for my well-styled, hard-worked-on table setting to remain the perfect picture I have in mind, like a lifeless image – I want people to live it, enjoy it, turn it into a space, which experienced fun and laughs.

I don’t mind the wine stains, the candlewax, the breadcrumbs… Bring it all on!

For me, the photo below represents just that: the fun you will be having on your perfect day and the memories you will be creating with your guests and for your guests! This photo and those that you will find on all the other participating blogs represent the ‘perfectness‘ of a day that was enjoyed and lived!

So right now, I know I cannot wait for my own Elegant Decay on the 18th of February 2011!

But first, more about the shoot:
We’re  Aleah + Nick Valley of Valley & Co. and we’re so excited to partner with some of our most favorite blogosphere friends for this Blog Around the World: Elegant Decay post! The big paradox

8 Nov

Well, I make this post sound very philosophical but it has to do with weddings! It is however something I guess we can apply to anything: travels, parties, …

What is ‘that’?
I realised this morning (really? only this morning?) that I cannot wait until our wedding in February. I have so many friends who are making the trip from Europe (and beyond) and being able to see them and have a holiday with them has been something I have wanted for years and it is all happening now. So I really cannot wait until February 2011.
But on the other side – when it’s happened, it’s over. It’s in the past. No more looking forward to it, no more planning, no more creating details for the day, no more excited expectations… It’s in the past. It will be certainly the best memories ever, but it is nonetheless in the past.

For me, this is the biggest paradox, contradiction, what ever you want to call it. You just cannot wait to be there but you are not looking forward to it being over. Heartbreaking situation.

But I still cannot wait, I will just have to make sure I enjoy the journey till that day.

Take a chance!

15 Oct

Since I have started to use Twitter for my wedding research and inspiration, I have met the most amazing people. Talented, talented people! The support you get from someone you barely (or don’t even) know is sometimes still surprising me.

Everyone should always take a chance at things. You will get nothing by taking no risk. Risking to get hurt is risking to discover the best outcome possible. It’s most of the time well worth it.

Keep your eyes wide open. Let life make its imprint on you!

…So I am back…

13 Oct

Yes. Six weeks away on a trip around the world and now  back to reality and the biggest one of them all? I have just over four months to finish planning my wedding and boy there is a lot of things to do.

In six weeks, I met and reconnected with some amazing people and for this first post back holidays, I would like to dedicate it to long time friends and new found friends. To those who are here to support you no matter the time and distance.

There is no other thing that is worth more than friends and family and guys, I just want you all to know how much I love you (super cheesy but I don’t care!)

One Little Woman | One Massive Heart

17 Aug

When I created this blog, I wanted it to be all about inspiration and what really inspires me; and nothing has inspired me most lately than this one young woman.

Kelsey Porter is 16. She has her own battles to fight and at such a young age, she’s already had her share of hardship and barriers to overcome. Yet, this is not stopping her from doing something that any young girl of her age would consider totally unthinkable: she is shaving her whole head off for charity.

Through NZ’s Greatest Shave, Kelsey is supporting the Leukemia and Blood Foundation by raising money to help the estimated 10,000 people who suffer from blood cancer or similar conditions in New Zealand.

With this very bold move, Kelsey is raising high in the ranks of inspiring and courageous people. It may seem like nothing to most of us, but really, put it all in perspective:

She is 16. At 16, you think about your look, you are the easy target of laughter and mockery. Yet, she doesn’t care.
She also has a condition, which makes her hair grow a lot slower than the norm. So not only she is being courageous to shave her hair in the first place, but she is also committing to that new look for a lot longer than most of us would and for that, she is my biggest inspiration of 2010.

Kelsey, you are one amazing girl and I know you will go far!

So, please donate for the cause. Support an amazing young woman. And help people who are not as lucky as the rest of us and who have to fight everyday with a blood condition. Support, whether you are in New Zealand or overseas!

Crazy about Portugal

5 Aug

Why am I totally crazy about Portugal today you must be asking… Well, simple. This is the home of amazing Brancoprata… And when I say amazing, I mean a-ma-zing.

There is more to them that a pretty blog, with lots of inspiration. André and Sofia are two talented people who are rocking the scene of photography, stationery and event styling when it comes to occasions such as wedding, engagement, birthday parties and the likes. Portugal is their home turf, the world is their oyster!

And they are just so incredibly awesome that I have only one desire: fly them from Porto in Portugal to come and snap some shots at our party in France. Wouldn’t that be incredible? I know it would be an amazing experience and one great encounter. I will let you know how this will pan out.

For now, I will leave you with some amazing photography from Brancoprata. And it is so hard to choose shots to feature here that you may as well go on their blog, facebook or twitter and let yourself be inspired by this warm and amazing team from Portugal. Enjoy!

Short Wedding Dress

20 Jul

With my most recent post, I thought I would add a couple of designs I have seen from the bridalcookie.com blog. I am generally not a big fan of short dresses for weddings but those two are definitely cute and in the right setting and for the right person, it would be a total success.

Enjoy.
